Requires macOS 26 Tahoe or later on a Mac with Apple silicon. Not for Intel Macs. The pricing page has the one-time purchase.
-
macOS 26 Tahoe or later
Earlier versions of macOS cannot run it.
-
A Mac with Apple silicon
Any Apple silicon Mac that runs macOS 26. There is no version for Intel Macs.
-
No account
Nothing to sign in to, in either version of the app.
Which version to get
Both versions edit the same way and are free to try. The version from the Mac App Store is bought as an in-app purchase that Family Sharing can share, goes online only to confirm that purchase, and is updated by the App Store. The version from this site is unlocked with a licence by email, which it activates online once on each Mac, on 3 Macs at a time. It checks for updates only when you allow it, and is refunded within 14 days of purchase if it does not work as described. Mac App Store or direct download: which PDF Textfix? sets them side by side.
Neither version needs a connection to edit or save a file; the version from this site needs one once on each Mac to activate its licence. How to edit a PDF offline on a Mac says what each version sends.
The first time you open it
A small notice says once what the free version does, and the Welcome window offers two buttons: Open PDF… and Try a Sample. A sample never counts toward the free line edits and is never watermarked, so it is the place to try the editor first. The window sums up the app in three lines: open a PDF, double-click a line and type, save.
On the first document you open, a small note points at the first line you can edit. From there, the manual covers every window, menu and key, and How to edit text in a PDF on a Mac, step by step walks through a whole edit.
Notarized by Apple
The version from this site is signed with the Developer ID of Pocket Implementation S.R.L. (Team ID Q479N53SQD) and notarized by Apple, which checks it for malicious software; macOS verifies both the first time you open it.
Files and checksums
The first release is not out yet. Its files and their SHA-256 checksums appear here when it ships.
Install and update
Open the disk image and drag PDF Textfix to the Applications folder, then open it from there: an app opened from the disk image or from the Downloads folder cannot install its updates.
This version checks pdftextfix.com for updates only when you allow it. It asks before its first automatic check, and Help > Check for Updates… checks at once whenever you choose it. A check is one HTTPS request for the update feed: like every web request it carries your IP address, and it names the app, its version and the version of Sparkle, the framework that installs the updates. No system profile is sent, and nothing about your documents leaves your Mac. The update feed page has more.
The version from the Mac App Store is updated by the App Store.
Release notes of 1.0.0, all releases, and the release notes feed for new versions.
Which Macs can run it?
Does it run on M1, M2, M3 and M4 Macs?
Yes. It runs on every Mac with Apple silicon that has macOS 26 Tahoe or later installed.
Is there a version for Intel Macs?
No. PDF Textfix needs a Mac with Apple silicon, in both versions.
Is the download free?
Free to try. Your first 5 line edits save clean. After that, saved files carry a watermark until you buy once.
Buy once
The version from this site is unlocked with a licence that arrives by email, activated online once on each Mac and active on 3 Macs at a time. A purchase in the Mac App Store unlocks the Mac App Store version, and purchases do not move between the two.
