PDF Textfix terms and licence

Version 2.1, effective October 13, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Pocket Implementation S.R.L., a Romanian limited liability company based in Bucharest, Romania, that makes PDF Textfix (“we”, “us”); our details are at the end of this page. Part 1 covers buying a licence on pdftextfix.com. Part 2 is the licence for the app you download from pdftextfix.com, free or paid. Part 3 applies to every copy of PDF Textfix, wherever it came from. The last section covers the app from the Mac App Store.

You buy or use PDF Textfix as a consumer when you do it for purposes outside your trade, business, craft or profession. Where you buy or use it as a consumer, nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you, including the mandatory rules of the country where you live. A section that applies only to business customers says so.

Please read these sections with care before you accept, because they limit our liability or your rights: Activation on your Macs, What you may not do, Ending the licence, Your documents are your responsibility, Limits of our liability, Indemnity for business customers and Law and courts. When you accept these terms, you accept those sections expressly.

Part 1: Terms of sale

Who sells

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders.

Paddle takes your payment, charges and pays the sales tax or VAT due in your country, and sends your receipt and invoice. Paddle’s own terms for buyers apply to the payment. We grant the licence and support the app.

Prices and tax

The pricing page shows the price for each region and whether it includes VAT or sales tax. Paddle’s checkout shows the final price, with the tax for your address, before you pay. A licence is a one-time purchase: there is no subscription and nothing renews.

If the checkout showed a price that is obviously wrong because of an error, such as a missing digit, we may cancel the order within 14 days and refund it in full; the licence it delivered is then revoked.

Delivery

After the payment goes through, we email your licence to the address you gave at checkout. The email holds the licence, a link that opens PDF Textfix and enters and activates the licence for you, and the confirmation of the agreement you gave before the checkout opened (see below). If the email does not arrive, the licence page says what to do.

The licence is supplied when we send that email, so check the address you type at checkout. Keep the email: it is your proof of purchase.

Orders we may refuse

Paddle may decline an order, for example to prevent fraud. We may decline to supply a licence, and the order is then refunded in full, when supplying it would break the law, including the sanctions laws under “Export controls and sanctions” below, when the buyer had a licence ended for breaking these terms, or after repeated refunds, as the refund policy says.

Refunds and the right of withdrawal

You can try PDF Textfix on your own documents with the free version before you buy.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the law normally gives you 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. For digital content that is not supplied on a physical medium, that right ends once the supply has started with your express consent and your acknowledgement that you lose the right (Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU; in Romania, Article 16(m) of Government Emergency Ordinance 34/2014). Before the checkout opens, our website asks you to agree that the licence is delivered immediately after payment and to acknowledge that you then lose your 14-day right of withdrawal; that agreement is recorded with your order and confirmed in the licence email (Article 8(7) of Directive 2011/83/EU). The licence is delivered as soon as the payment goes through, so there is no right of withdrawal for a licence once it is delivered. If a licence was issued without that record, the right of withdrawal applies as the law sets it out.

We refund a licence if you ask within 14 days of the purchase and the app does not work as described, you bought it twice by mistake, or the licence never reached you and could not be recovered, as the refund policy sets out. Otherwise, a purchase is final. The refund policy is not a satisfaction guarantee. It does not limit the remedies the law gives you when the app does not work as described, which “If something is wrong” below sets out.

Part 2: The licence (end-user licence agreement)

This licence applies to PDF Textfix downloaded from pdftextfix.com, in its free version and with a paid licence. By installing or using the app, you accept it; if you do not accept it, do not install or use the app. Part 3 applies to the app as well.

Using the app without a licence

PDF Textfix is free to try. Your first 5 line edits save clean. After that, saved files carry a watermark until you buy once: the words “PDF Textfix · free version” across every page, a footer line and the app’s icon in the corner, with the footer and the icon linking to our pricing page. The sample documents in the Help menu never count. You may use the free version for as long as you like; this licence applies to it, apart from the sections about a paid licence.

What a licence lets you do

We grant you a licence to install and use PDF Textfix, in the versions your licence covers, for your own personal or professional use. The licence is non-exclusive, and you may not sublicense it or transfer it except as “Moving a licence” below says. It has no end date, but it ends as “Ending the licence” says, and it does not promise that a version keeps working on later versions of macOS.

  • Personal licence: one person may use PDF Textfix on up to 3 Macs at a time, at home and at work.
  • Team of 5 licence: five named people may each use PDF Textfix on up to 3 Macs at a time, 15 Macs in all. Tell us when a person on the licence changes and we update the names.

A licence covers every 1.x version of PDF Textfix: all 1.x updates are free. If there is ever a version 2, we will say before it is released whether a 1.x licence covers it. How long version 1.x receives security fixes is on the security page.

Activation on your Macs

The version from this website activates a licence online, once on each Mac, when you enter it or open the link from your licence email. Activation needs an internet connection; until it succeeds, the app stays the free version on that Mac. What the app sends to activate and check a licence is described in the privacy policy.

  • The oldest Mac is removed automatically. When a licence is activated on more Macs than it covers (3, or 3 for each person on a Team of 5 licence), our licence service removes the activation of the Mac whose last activation or check is the oldest. You never have to deactivate a Mac before you activate a new one.
  • Removing a Mac yourself. The app’s Licence window lists the Macs using your licence and lets you remove any of them; Remove Licence… removes the licence from the Mac you are using. A removed Mac becomes the free version at its next check, until the licence is entered on it again.
  • Checks. After activation the app works offline. About once a week, when the Mac is online, it checks the licence with our licence service. If it cannot reach the service, it keeps working and tries again later. If no check succeeds for 30 days, the app asks you to connect the Mac once, and it works as the free version on that Mac until a check succeeds.
  • Revocation. When a licence ends as “Ending the licence” says, the licence service refuses it: the app becomes the free version on every Mac at its next check, and the licence can no longer be activated.
  • A Mac may count as new. After some repairs or hardware changes, and in every virtual machine, a Mac can count as a new one. It then takes a place of its own, and the oldest activation is removed as above.
  • If the service stops. If we ever stop running the licence service, we will first release an update of PDF Textfix that keeps activated licences working without it.

Moving a licence

You can give your licence to another person. Write to contact@pocketimplementation.com; we issue it in the new name and revoke the old one. On a new Mac of your own, enter the same licence again, or bring it across with Migration Assistant and open PDF Textfix while the new Mac is online, which activates it there as “Activation on your Macs” says. A licence cannot be split, and a Team of 5 licence cannot be divided into Personal licences.

A licence bought on pdftextfix.com does not unlock the Mac App Store version, and a purchase in the Mac App Store does not unlock the version from this website.

What you may not do

You may not do any of the following, or help anyone else to do it:

  • Use PDF Textfix to change a document you have no right to change, or to make a document say something false in a way that deceives others or breaks the law, such as forging a signed agreement, an official record, a certificate or an invoice.
  • Use PDF Textfix in any other way that breaks the law or infringes someone else’s rights.
  • Rent, lend, sell or resell a licence, share it beyond the people it names, or publish a licence so that others can use it.
  • Work around, disable or tamper with the licence check, its activation or the number of Macs a licence covers, the free version’s limit or its watermark; remove the free version’s watermark other than through the app itself; or make or pass on licence keys, key generators or changed copies of the app.
  • Copy the app, except to install it, run it and keep backups as this licence allows.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except as far as the law allows you to do so regardless of this licence, under Articles 5 and 6 of Directive 2009/24/EC on the legal protection of computer programs and the laws that transpose it, in Romania Law 8/1996 on copyright.
  • Remove or change the copyright notices and the licence texts in the app.

If a licence is published or shared beyond the people it names, we may revoke it.

Ownership and open-source parts

We own PDF Textfix, its name and its artwork, and license the app to you; we do not sell it. We keep every right these terms do not grant you. The app includes open-source components, each under its own licence; those licences ship inside the app, and its About window credits them. Nothing in this licence limits your rights under those licences.

Ending the licence

You can stop using the app at any time.

The licence ends if its purchase is refunded or charged back. Our licence service then refuses it, the app becomes the free version on each Mac at its next check, and a later version of the app no longer accepts it.

If you break the rules under “What you may not do”, we may end your licence by writing to the email address of the order and saying why. When the breach can be put right, we first give you 14 days to do so; publishing a licence, forging a document or working around the licence check cannot be put right. A licence ended for a breach is not refunded, unless the law requires it. Once it has ended, you may no longer use it: the licence service refuses it, and a later version of the app no longer accepts it.

The sections that by their nature last beyond the licence keep applying after it ends, in particular Part 3.

Part 3: Rules for every copy of PDF Textfix

These rules apply to the app from pdftextfix.com and to the app from the Mac App Store.

Your documents are your responsibility

PDF Textfix is a tool. It edits the documents you open, on your Mac, as you tell it to; we never see them and do not check what you do with them. You decide which document to open, what to change and what to do with the result, and you are responsible for that: for having the right to change the document, for what the edited document says, and for how you use it. Changing a document that someone else wrote, signed or issued, such as an agreement, an invoice, a certificate or an official record, can be unlawful when you have no right to change it or when the result deceives someone. That act is yours, not ours.

When a document is signed, the app asks you to confirm before you edit it, and tells you that its signatures will no longer verify once you save.

Keep a copy of any document that matters before you edit it, and check the edited document before you send it or rely on it. Save As writes the edited file under a new name and leaves the original untouched. Save writes the whole file again: it removes the lines you replaced from the pages, and everything you did not edit is copied as it was, unless the file was damaged; the app tells you when it repaired one.

What PDF Textfix is not

PDF Textfix is not a redaction tool. Saving removes the lines you replaced from the pages, but the same words can remain in other parts of the file: links and the addresses they open, bookmarks, comments, form fields, a tagged file’s accessibility text, images and the file’s metadata, and the fonts keep the shapes of every character they held. Do not rely on PDF Textfix to remove confidential content from a file.

Fonts

PDF Textfix writes your edits with the fonts inside the document and, when a character is missing, with fonts installed on your Mac. You are responsible for the licences of fonts you installed yourself: a font’s licence can be stricter than the embedding permissions the font file declares.

If something is wrong

PDF Textfix must work as its description, its help pages and this website say. If it does not and you are a consumer, the law gives you remedies, including having the app brought into conformity, a price reduction or ending the contract, under Directive (EU) 2019/770 on digital content as Romania transposed it by Government Emergency Ordinance 141/2021, or under the law of the country where you live. This licence does not take away any right the law gives you as a consumer. Tell us at contact@pocketimplementation.com what went wrong, so that we can put it right.

Beyond what the description, the help pages, this website and the law promise, and as far as the law allows, we give no other warranty for PDF Textfix: we do not promise that it opens, edits or saves every PDF, that it is free of errors, or that it suits a purpose its description does not name. The free version is provided as it is.

Limits of our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our fault, for loss we cause intentionally or by gross negligence, for fraud, under the rules on liability for defective products, or for anything else for which the law does not allow liability to be limited. Where you buy or use PDF Textfix as a consumer, nothing in this section limits the rights the law gives you.

Within those limits:

  • We are not liable for loss that could not be foreseen when you accepted these terms, or for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or savings.
  • We are not liable for loss you could have avoided with reasonable care, such as a document lost or damaged when you kept no copy of it, or an edited document you sent or relied on without checking it.
  • We are not liable for what you do with a document you edit, or for loss caused by a breach of “What you may not do”.
  • We are not liable for services and software we do not control, such as Paddle’s checkout, Apple’s App Store, macOS or the software that made or reads a document, unless our own fault caused the loss.
  • We are not liable for a delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control.

Our total liability for all claims connected with PDF Textfix and these terms, whatever their legal basis, is limited to the price you paid for your licence, or to EUR 50 if you paid nothing. This limit applies in full to business customers, and to consumers only as far as the law of the country where they live allows it.

Indemnity for business customers

This section applies only when you buy or use PDF Textfix for a business, trade or profession; it does not apply to consumers. You will compensate us for the losses, damages, costs and reasonable legal fees we incur because someone else makes a claim against us that arises from a document you edited with PDF Textfix, from your use of the app in breach of these terms, or from your breach of the law, unless our own fault caused the claim. We tell you about such a claim promptly and let you take part in its defence.

Export controls and sanctions

You may not download, use, export or re-export PDF Textfix in breach of the export control or sanctions laws that apply to you or to us, including those of the European Union, the United Nations, the United Kingdom and the United States. You confirm that you are not a person those sanctions target, and that you are not owned or controlled by such a person or acting for one. We may refuse an order, and end a licence, where supplying it would break those laws.

Law and courts

Romanian law governs these terms and every claim connected with them; the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply. The courts of Bucharest, Romania, have jurisdiction, and for business customers they have exclusive jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, you can bring a claim in the courts of that country, and we can bring a claim against you only there.

Before you go to court, please write to us at contact@pocketimplementation.com with what went wrong and what you ask for: most problems are solved by email, and we aim to answer within 30 days. If you are a consumer, this is a request, not a condition of your rights.

If you are a consumer, you can also complain to the Romanian consumer protection authority, the Autoritatea Națională pentru Protecția Consumatorilor (ANPC, anpc.ro), and use its platform for the alternative resolution of consumer disputes at reclamatiisal.anpc.ro. The European Commission closed its online dispute resolution platform on July 20, 2025; it lists the dispute resolution bodies of each EU country at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu. If a complaint you sent us is not settled, we tell you whether we will take part in the procedure you propose.

Changes

We may change these terms for a valid reason: a change in the law or in a regulator’s guidance, a change in PDF Textfix or in how we sell or support it, or to make them clearer. We publish every version here; the version and date at the top of this page show which one applies. A change applies to purchases made and versions of the app released after it takes effect, and it never takes away a right you already have under a licence you bought.

General

  • You may not transfer your rights or duties under these terms, except a licence as “Moving a licence” says. We may transfer ours to a company that takes over PDF Textfix, provided your rights under these terms stay the same.
  • These terms, with the refund policy and, for the payment, Paddle’s terms for buyers, are the whole agreement between you and us about PDF Textfix, and they replace anything said before. What the law counts as part of our promise to a consumer, such as the description of the app on this website, still counts.
  • If a court finds part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force. For a business customer, that part applies as far as the law allows; for a consumer, a term the law treats as unfair does not bind you.
  • If we do not enforce a right at once, we have not given it up.
  • We write to you at the email address of your order, or at the address you wrote to us from. You write to us at contact@pocketimplementation.com.

The Mac App Store version

PDF Textfix from the Mac App Store is licensed under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Apple sells the in-app purchase that unlocks it, and Apple’s terms cover payment and refunds. Part 3 of these terms applies to it as well, as far as it does not conflict with Apple’s agreement.

For the Mac App Store version, you and we acknowledge that:

  • These terms are between you and us only, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Write to us instead.
  • If the app fails to conform to a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price of the in-app purchase; as far as the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for any claim about the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar laws.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging any claim that the app or your use of it infringes someone else’s intellectual property rights.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States government embargo or that the United States government has designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.
